Seamless Stairwell Upgrades in Salford with Bolon Tiles and Morleys Nosings
At PDQ Contract Flooring, we specialise in practical, high-performance flooring that elevates shared spaces. Our latest project took us to Salford, Manchester, where we recently completed a comprehensive flooring upgrade across eight communal stairwells and landings in a set of residential apartment blocks.
High-Performance Flooring for High-Traffic Spaces
Communal areas in residential buildings face constant use and need materials that are both durable and stylish. The client supplied Bolon tiles, a premium woven vinyl flooring ideal for high-traffic settings, and trusted us to deliver a professional installation across all areas—totalling 410m².
We uplifted and disposed of the existing flooring and nosings, then prepared each surface meticulously. For the landings, we used Level It Super30 fast-drying latex screed, reducing disruption to tenants and creating a smooth base. For stair treads, we applied a combination of Ardex Feather Finish and Adrex A45 rapid repair compound to ensure every surface was level, clean, and ready for installation.
To complete the look and enhance safety, we supplied and installed 200 linear metres of Morleys SN6 double channel stair nosings across all treads. At ground floor entrances, we fitted new anthracite ribbed entrance matting to the mat-wells, offering both durability and dirt control.

Over the course of just under four weeks, we transformed all eight stairwells with minimal disruption to residents, ensuring a clean, consistent finish that’s built to last.
