Care home flooring installation featuring Polyflor Forest FX and Polysafe Quattro
In September 2024, PDQ Contract Flooring was approached by Qualis Construction to undertake the full subfloor preparation works and floor finishes at Kilsby House Care Home.
What began as a survey of a derelict and almost abandoned building became a substantial phased flooring project, delivered over several months and completed in February 2026.
Working closely with the site team, PDQ carried out a full programme of preparation and installation works across the building, helping transform the space into a finished care environment ready for use.
Scope of works
Across the basement and ground floor, PDQ used Probond DPM and Probond Series 300 smoothing compound, supplied by Sasgo, covering 534m².
On the first and second floors, the team supplied and installed 6mm plywood, also supplied by Sasgo, with a feather finish applied throughout a further 945m².
For the floor finishes, PDQ supplied and installed Polyflor Forest FX Smoked Oak across bedrooms, communal areas, hallways and staircases, totalling 1,277m².
In the ensuites and shower rooms, PDQ installed Polysafe Quattro with cap and coved skirtings, covering 202m².
The project also included the supply and installation of double channel nosings to four staircases, supplied by Morleys.
Delivered in phases
Following the initial survey in September 2024, works began on site in September 2025 and were delivered in phases through to completion in February 2026. With multiple areas to prepare and finish across the building, the project called for careful coordination and a consistent standard throughout to suit the demands of a care environment. It’s a project the PDQ team is really proud of, and one that has been very well received on site.
